Random weekend pictures

 Time to hit the mailbag.

The first item is this gadget. In all honesty, I had no idea there was a market (especially in "scenic region") for an explosion-proof telephone

Next is this game, which was seen recently at the store. If your "favourite childhood memories" are from the late 1800's, the odds are your kids won't be impressed with it at this point in their lives.

Here we have a gift bag from a child's sports-themed birthday party. They probably should have folded the left margin a little more carefully.

Here's a product that I had no idea existed. I guess it can be used for cooking, for edible jet engines, and, uh, other practices.

And, lastly is this device. Which sounds like a bad pick-up line.

"Light & easy to handle." Snicker.

Explosion proof or intrinsicly safe phones are used in environments with a potentially explosive atmosphere like oil refineries or large petrol storage tank farms. They're designed to contain an explosion within their cases, not survive being blown up from the outside.

First time ever you've posted a product I've actually purchased. The pocket hose. The valve that opens and closes it leaks, of course, but damn has it been convenient for me. I'm actually glad I got it.

Food grade lubricants are used on food machinery (like meat saws).

Sold a brand for butchers for many years...

Trust me, you don't want WD-40 on your steak!

Did you notice that the explosion proof phone could be used in the AIRPROT.

Need better proofreaders.

Not only used at the AIRPROT, but also the TRANSTATION. Ha, ha.

My favourite childhood memories involve my pocket hose and spray-on lubricant.

Oh, I have the hose, too. I really like it, even though I never actually read anything on the packaging.

Just a lucky happenstance. :)

All the products are legit. I won't tell Mom about the pocket hose sniggering. Just takes a neuro MD to take them wrong. (Tho I boggled when I saw the lube when doing story on butcher shop.)

and it is a 50 foot hose - where can I get one!?

Way back when we had a telephony monopoly in the Netherlands there was a catalogue of special phones in the phonebook and a special phone for explosive environments was always listed. These phones are gas-tight so theoretical sparks inside the phone can't cause an explosion.
At the price the monopoly asked for a phone like this I wouldn't call it a gadget. Being vandalism-resistant is just a nice side-effect from the special casing.

I had some kind of magnetic fishing game when I was a kid in the 90s!! Loved it, too

Hey, magnetic fishing was a popular game in the 1980s, too, before kids had access to iPhones. What about Old Maid, Go Fish, Spoons, and Hearts? Didn't you play magnetic fishing, magnetic darts and foosball, paper dolls and dioramas, and magnetic mustache, too? I think they all went the way of waxed cardboard with a plastic lift sheet, ouiji boards, electrified wire loop game of Operation, Etch-A-Sketch, and Battleship?

Pocket hose has to be handled with TLC or you will destroy it upon use. I used it 1/2 dozen times and then while using it, I pulled it just a bit further than it stretches and WOW!!! It ripped right away. Not good! :(
